CASTING CO-LEAD ROLE IN INDEPENDENT FILM
Casting new feature film by Gotham Awards nominated director Constance Tsang, whose prior film Blue Sun Palace was awarded the French Touch Prize by the jury at the 2024 Cannes Critics’ Week. We are currently casting the the co-lead role of TESS, a young Chinese American woman ages 15-25. We would love to consider emerging young actresses, as well as musicians, performers and people with no prior acting experience. For this role, we’re looking for someone with a great presence and special, authentic spark. The film shoots in New York but are casting across North America.

Synopsis
When June, a mid-career director and actress, makes a personal film about an incident that changed her relationship with her mother, she is unexpectedly challenged by the young actress playing her younger self. Upon upending the film's production with a rash decision, she quickly has to reconcile how the past still lives inside her in order to have perspective on it – and not repeat it.
Director’s Bio
Constance Tsang is a Chinese American filmmaker based in New York. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Individualized Study from New York University and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Screenwriting and Directing from Columbia University. Her first feature, Blue Sun Palace, was awarded the French Touch Prize by the jury at the 2024 Cannes Critics’ Week and was an official selection at New Directors/New Films 2025. Her next feature, My Mother and Yours, is currently in development at La Résidence du Festival de Cannes. She is nominated for the Gotham Awards, for the Best Breakthrough Director Award 2025.

[TESS] Female, Chinese American, Ages 15-25. A young woman grappling with loss as she comes of age. She's self-assured, vulnerable, sharp and hides her insecurities well. Musical talent appreciated but not needed. Must have a command of Mandarin or Cantonese, as well as English. CO-LEAD.
