DESCRIPTION
UNTITLED BBL PROJECT is a feature-length documentary about the BBL recovery scene in and around Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami. The filmmaking team aims to illuminate the profound transformation, both physical and psychological, that occurs when individuals undergo this life-changing procedure. The film will follow several women on their remarkable journeys, capturing their experiences from pre-op to post-op and will go beyond the surgical procedure itself and highlight the stories of resilience, self-discovery, and personal growth that unfold within the characters.

FILMMAKING TEAM

Kelly Loudenberg (director) is a multimedia artist, filmmaker, and writer based in Los Angeles, California.Across a body of work that interweaves documentary filmmaking, investigative journalism, and installation art, Loudenberg explores the fallibility of the American justice system and the economic politics of everyday life. She directed three documentary series for NETFLIX and several short documentaries for The Atlantic, The New York Times, VICE, and The New Yorker. She is the creator of “The Confession Tapes” (2017), a true-crime series investigating involuntary or coerced confessions, which was nominated for an IDA award in 2018, as well as “Exhibit A” (2019), a series exploring how innocent people are convicted and imprisoned using dubious forensic techniques and tools. Currently, Loudenberg is at work on a piece of land art off of Interstate-15 between Los Angeles and Los Vegas that probes the politics and potentialities of unused space.She is also writing her first nonfiction book for HarperCollins on a televised celebrity divorce.

Rachel Traub (producer) most recently served as VP of Non-Fiction at Concordia Studios where she oversaw the development slate of feature documentaries and docuseries, including sales to HBO, Hulu, CNN+, and Apple amongst others. Before joining Concordia, Rachel was Head of Non-Fiction at AGC Studios, where she creatively helmed the company's documentary slate, overseeing projects from development through production, including feature documentaries with award winning directors and production companies such as Dawn Porter, Ryan White, and Passion Pictures. Prior to that she consulted for Topic Studios non-fiction team, and formerly oversaw feature film development/co-productions at Morgan Spurlock’s Warrior Poets, where she ushered numerous feature documentaries and non-fiction series through development, production and post, including No Man’s Land (Tribeca Film Festival 2017) and The Devil We Know (Sundance 2018). Before working in documentaries, Rachel worked in acquisitions for the Paris based foreign sales agent/financier, Wild Bunch, where she was a part of such films as James Gray's The Immigrant and Stephen Frears' Lay the Favorite.

COMPENSATION
For those participating, the filmmaking team is able to provide compensation for archival license fees (photos, videos, etc.) and/or location fees where applicable. These fees will be determined upon confirmation of participation, but are expected to be in the range of $1,500 per person. There’s the potential for further compensation once / if the documentary has distribution. Production is  unable to offer compensation or reimbursement for medical procedures, surgeries, medications, doctor visits, aftercare treatment, etc.
